Napa County Obituaries
Rouetta Anna Thompson
Wife of Harry B. Lawley.
She married Harry B. Lawley on June 21, 1890 in Napa and had Hazel Irene on
October 20, 1891 in Napa. She died on October 7, 1895 in San Francisco at
the home of her mother Mrs. Elizabeth Thompson, widow of Isaac Thompson, who
died in Napa in 1883.
The funeral article incorrectly listed the death day as Tuesday, which
someone crossed out. She died on Monday, October 7, 1895. I am guessing
that both of these articles were published in Napa County newspapers.
Rouetta is buried in the Thompson family plot in Tulocay Cemetery. Her
husband Harry B. Lawley remarried. His wife's first name was Hattie. Harry
B. Lawyely died in 1928 and was buried March 10, 1928 in the St. Helena
Public Cemetery in St. Helena.
After Rouetta died Harry felt that four-year old Hazel needed a mother.
Elizabeth Thompson took in Hazel, who was like a little sister to her
children. She then spent time in Napa County at the Toll House. While
living in Napa she met a cement plant supervisor Alfred G. Lang. They
married in 1912. Alfred's work took him and Hazel as far as India. They
settled in Palo Alto, California. Hazel died on April 29, 1957, and Alfred
died in 1972.
